The information highlighted in blue is new as of April 2008 and is thanks to Robert Bentley (Spraker-Nethery) de Lucia

In the 1880 Census for Madison, Helvetia, District 31, Illinois a Victorine Genet, female, age 40 is listed as living with her 10 year old son, Thalamack Genet.  She keeps house; the 10 year old son works "low farm".   Mom Victorine was born in France to parents who were born in France.  Thalamack was born in Illinois; both his mother and father were born in France.  The father is not listed with this Census.

In the 1900 Census for Logan, Mulhall, District 142 Oklahoma, Telegue E. and Mary B. Genet are listed.  They live on Main Street with their daughter Helen B. Genet who is one year old and listed as born in "November 1899 in Oklahoma."  The father, Telegue, is listed as born in "June 1870" in Illinois to France-born parents; the mother, Mary B., is listed as born in "November 1875"  in Kansas to England-born parents.  Telegue is a "furniture dealer."

In the 1910 Census for Tulsa Oklahoma Telegue E. and Mary Genet are listed. They live at 1212 South Carson Avenue in Tulsa,  3rd Ward, District 230, with their two daughters, Helen and Maxine.    Mary and Telegue have been married 14 years.  Their oldest daughter Helen is 11 born in Oklahoma; Maxine is 6 and born in Kansas.  He is a furniture merchant and she does not work outside of the home.  He was born in Illinois to France-born parents; she in Kansas to England-born parents.

In the 1920 Census for Tulsa Oklahoma T. E. and Mary Belle Genet are listed. They live at 124 East Jasper Street, located in the 10th Precinct of Tulsa, Oklahoma.   T. E. is 49 (born about 1871); Mary is 45.  He is a furniture merchant and she does not work outside of the home.  They have three children listed...two daughters, Helen (born Oklahoma) and Maxine (born Kansas); and one son, Charlton (born Oklahoma), ages 20, 16, and 8 respectively.

Note:  There is a Helen Genet, age 21 (born about 1899),  listed in the 1920 Chicago Illinois, Ward 7, District 414 Census, who is a boarder living on University Avenue, in Chicago.  She is a violinist owning her "own business" who was born in Oklahoma to a father born in the "United States" and a mother born in Kansas.  May well be the Helen listed above.   This Illinois census was taken in January. There is no month listed on the J. E. and Mary Belle Census.

In the 1930 Census for Tulsa Oklahoma there are two GENETs listed, without either of them having their first name listed on the census (very unusual).  It is likely these Genets are T. E. and Mary Belle Genet listed in the 1920 census, and that none of their children now live in their home.

They live at 1230 ___________ Street (illegible), District 74, Tulsa City, Oklahoma.  The census was taken on April 4th, 1930.   He owns their home, worth $15,000; owns a radio set; is 58 years old, married when he was 25.  He was born in Illinois to parents born in France. She is 55; married at 22. She was born in Kansas to England-born parents.  He is employed as a furniture merchant; she does not work outside of their home.   I do not yet know how these people are related to Joseph Genet (below).

In 1930 a JOSEPH GENET is also living in Tulsa Oklahoma with his wife and three children.

The following is a portion of the 1930 Census for Tulsa:

JOSEPH GENET was born 29 May 1877 (per SSDI) in Ohio. His father Genet and mother (full name unknown) were both born in France.

Per the 1930 Census (Tulsa District 77) Joe and Lou and their three children, Clynon, Joe, Jr., and Pauline lived in a home that they rented for $20/month; they owned a radio set; and they did not live on a farm.  The home was located at 813 Calendyne (?) Street in Tulsa Oklahoma.  Joe was working as a finisher for a furniture manufacturer.  Joe Jr. (age 20) was a truck driver for a furniture company, likely the same company as his dad worked for.  Clynon was 22 at that point and was working in a filling station.  Both Joe Jr and Clynon were single.  Their younger sister was Pauline, age 16, a student.
