SORTING OUT THE CATORS
IN MARYLAND/VIRGINIA/DC:
Miscellaneous CATORS - TIDBITS OF INFO

 Map at bottom of page

Cator is an unusual surname...meaning there are limited Cators in any one area.  So, we have started to sort through the Cators in Maryland and surrounding area, hoping to find a way to link these "miscellaneous" Cators to our own District of Columbia Cator line.   Those on this page do not appear, thus far, to link to any of our other Cator pages.  Your help in sorting out the Cators will be greatly appreciated.  ANY of these miscellaneous Cators will be treasured by us.  Please help us by sharing new information, corrected information, family stories, photos, whatever, so we can together demystify the Delmarva Cators. We are happy to share what we have.  Please email us (Donna and Patrick Cator) at catorfamily@gmail.com

As yet, LIKELY unlinked to "Our Cators" or the various miscellaneous CATORS.  Cators that have NOW been linked or have their own family group webpage are listed at the bottom.

Anne Arundel Genealogical Society on 5/18/2005:  "In Anne Arundel County, Maryland Marriage Records 1777-1877 by John W. Powell (Pasadena, MD: AA Gen Soc, 1991), p. 20, there is a marriage license dated 6 Feb 1835 for Benjamin Cator and Louisa Burgess. This is the only license listed for a Benjamin Cator between 1777-1877. The only other Cator in these records is Thomas Cator and Lydia A. Neale obtaining a license 15 Dec 1866. It was not unusual for Prince George’s County residents to go across the Patuxent River to Anne Arundel County for a marriage license. Perhaps Louisa’s family was of Anne Arundel County. The Cator family seems to have resided in PG Co."
